Well, it’s hard to believe the summer is almost concluding for me. It has been rather busy.
Tomorrow, Kellie and I leave for Florida for a wedding. We’ll be there until Sunday, then it’s time for the Morgan Youth Soccer Camp. As soon as it’s over, we are headed to Bluffton and I begin my graduate orientation on August 1…as well as a YMCA soccer camp that week.
It has also been a rather frustrating summer for Kellie and I. We know we are in the right place…no doubt about that. But we have been unable to get Kellie a job. We have had a couple of opportunities, mainly working at the institution. One position would’ve been hard for her to get. The other position is PERFECT for her. The problem: their failure to communicate and make decisions.
Kellie has consistently shown interest in the job. She has stopped in. She has emailed. She has called. All of the above is to numerous people within the hiring process. She has not heard ONE thing from anyone!!! Why?! How in the world does this seem right in the hiring process?
It’s unfortunate. We don’t know what will happen with the job. It’s still posted. We’ve been unable to uncover any information concerning its current status. So…in the meantime, we’ll just have to sit back and wait for it.
The one thing Kellie has to fall back on is substitute teaching. Unfortunately, Ohio’s education system is in complete shambles, so she hasn’t been able to get a full-time job. Hopefully she’ll be able to sub a lot.
We have a place to live. We will have bills soon. This whole “growing up” thing is happening. It’d just be nice if the federal and state governments enabled people to actually be able to work. At the same time, there are hundreds/thousands/millions of others wearing our same shoes. When is something going to happen about it?
It’d be nice to be able to “live the American dream.” We have the marriage thing already crossed off. With no jobs, we probably won’t be having the house, car, kids, and such anytime soon. We may have to end up moving to the mountains and buying one of these. At least I’ll be able to grow my hair and beard out again…
